Commissioner Nance-Holt is a member of the Delta Sigma Theta Sorority“. She has have 30 years with the Chicago Fire Department. She was promoted to lieutenant in 1993 and was one of the first African American women promoted in the Department. She has also served as the Vice President and subsequently President of the African American Firefighters and Paramedics League of Chicago
